What is Hypnosis?

The body’s natural state is one of relaxation and attunement to the present moment. During hypnosis, the body and conscious mind are relaxed and neutral as the subconscious mind is awake and suggestible.  You listen on a deep level to the particular unconscious pattern at which blocks and issues arise.  Often, our conscious thoughts and patterns interrupt the mind’s natural ability to go towards health and authenticity.  Hypnosis aligns the subconscious and conscious, priming them to accept positive messages.

How Does It Work?

Hypnotic suggestions bypass the intellectual mind, or “conscious”, accessing the subconscious – the other 90-95% that typically we are not accessing.  This subconscious mind has no concept of time.  It only lives in the “now”.  When traumatized, stressed, or anxious, it may focus too much on the past, bound by negative memories.  However, your mind can be actualized by a future self defined by where you want to be.

How Can Hypnosis Help Me?

Hypnosis teaches you how to manage and witness your thoughts, working with them to create the life you truly desire.  Hypnosis trains attitudes by tuning in to your authentic self.  You will learn to turn down the volume on the unconscious thoughts and reactions to previously held negative beliefs, as formed by past troubles.

Can Anyone Be Hypnotized?

Most people (90%) are responsive to hypnosis.  Brain damage or psychological dysfunction may inhibit success.  The depth of hypnosis varies with a person’s ability to respond.  Practicing self hypnosis, as I will instruct you on doing, deepens the hypnotic state and improves the likelihood of success.

Is Hypnosis Medically Approved?

Yes.  The American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association have approved hypnotherapy for use by professionally responsible individuals. I am listed by the Colorado State Mental Health Board as a psychotherapist.

Are the Results Permanent?

Suggestions stay with some individuals indefinitely, while others need reinforcement.  The effects of hypnosis are cumulative: the more the techniques are practiced and post-hypnotic suggestions are brought into play, the more permanent the results become.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) effectively resolves symptoms of trauma and anxiety.  It works by processing the memories of a traumatic experience fully and unhooks the “gut reaction” response to situations or stimuli that feel like the original trauma.  EMDR shows you the unconscious connections your mind makes, linking seemingly unrelated memories to the same unconscious reactions.  Discovering the patterns allows you greater insight into why they have served you in the past and how you can change them for a better future.
